Engr. Dr.Mukhtiar Ali Unar

Prof. Dr. Mukhtiar Ali Unar is currently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering. Before joining Isra University, he served at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, where he held various academic and administrative positions, including Meritorious Professor, Director of the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies and Dean of the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, and Computer Engineering.

Dr. Unar earned his B.E. in Electronic Engineering from MUET and later obtained his M.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Ph.D. in Control Systems Design from the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom. He also completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Glasgow and the University of Strathclyde. With more than three decades of experience in teaching, research, and administration, he has contributed to curriculum development, postgraduate supervision, and institutional development in the field of engineering education.

His areas of interest include artificial intelligence, control systems, data science, digital signal processing, and engineering education. He has authored and co-authored several research papers in national and international journals and has supervised numerous postgraduate theses. Dr. Unar also served as Chief Editor of the Mehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology from 2008 to 2024. He continues to contribute to accreditation and quality assurance processes through his involvement with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC), and the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
